As anyone with kids knows that is a difficult question to answer.
Well, this was asked of myself and 140 other entrepreneurs on the 2nd day of our Entrepreneurial Spark bootcamp by our mentor and all round wise guy Brian McGuire (go on google him - you know you want to).
You might see Brian on the train, pass him in the street but unless you hear and see him speak you might never feel like running a marathon or sailing single handed round the world.
He could be described as satanic, devilish or fiendish in the way he gets you to investigate, interrogate and examine every part of why you think that you have a business that might actually succeed.
The way he exuberantly pole vaulted around the room, unrestrainedly thrusting a microphone at people had me cowering at the thought that he might ask me to stand up and explain myself and my narcissistic behavior.
He enthuses the entrepreneur to be counter intuitive, rally against their perceived constraints and have the confidence to assess their prodigy, their plans, their goals.
“Find the pain point, identify the problem your business is solving and get down and dirty with the question why?”, there is no time in Brian’s life for flummery.
The energy this guy bestows is immense and scarily enjoyable.
So, in reality, no baby is ugly, but, in that same reality, start ups aren't babies.
