6 Windy or Rainy Day Activities For Kids

The wind has been awful today! So many schools were closed, buses were running late and trains were cancelled.  So what do you do when you've got children who were supposed to be at school and who are now running around your house excited that they've got a day off school? Well you read these 6 activities that will certainly keep them amused!

1. Create a rainy day jar. Write down activities that your children would like to do when the weather is bad outside and put them in a small jar. They can have fun decorating the label for the jar and when there’s another bad weather day, they can pick a piece of paper from the jar and find out what their chosen activity is.

2. Build a fort. Children can find the noise of wind and rain hitting off windows scary so create a cosy fort with blankets and sheets draped over chairs where they can feel safe and snug.

         3. Make a treasure hunt around the house. Not only will it keep the kids entertained – it will let you get on with any tasks that need to be done.

2    4. Go bowling inside. Paint plastic bottles to make them colourful and see who can knock them all down with a small ball.

         5. Play indoor volley ball. Attach a piece of string from one chair to another, blow up a balloon and you have your own indoor volleyball!

        6. Grow plants. If it’s too cold or wet to go out in the garden, then bring the garden into your home!
